Description:	A series of black-and-white photographs showing Warrnambool Base Hospital’s participation in the annual Florado Parade, part of the Florado Festival which ran from 1957 to 1966. The parade featured floats from local businesses, schools, community groups, and societies, winding its way through Warrnambool’s main streets and concluding at the Friendly Societies Oval. The hospital’s float was decorated to promote road safety and community health education, with nurses in traditional uniforms caring for “patients” and displaying posters carrying public safety messages such as “Drive – Don’t Drink”, “Little Kids Copy You – Set a Good Example”, and “Dip Your Lights.” One float features a damaged car with the slogan “The Other Fellow Didn’t – I Couldn’t See a Thing”, highlighting the dangers of driving without dimming headlights. These photographs capture Warrnambool Base Hospital’s creative engagement with public health awareness and its contribution to local community celebrations during the mid-20th century.
