The collection consists of finely crafted silver filigree miniature buildings representing traditional Minangkabau architecture. The set comprises seven pieces: a village headman’s house (rumah besar), a mosque with a multi-tiered roof typical of the region (missigit), a smaller house, three rice barns (rankiang) and a palm tree. Buildings feature the distinctive horn-shaped Rumah Gadang roofs typical of the Minangkabau people. Presented to the Warrnambool Base Hospital and the Warrnambool Rotary Club by Doctors Soemanto and Kamardi in May 1974, as a gesture of appreciation for the donation of hospital equipment to the General Hospital, Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. These models exemplify Sumatran craftsmanship and serve as a symbol of international goodwill and medical collaboration between Indonesia and Warrnambool.en
