Abstract: | The breadth of presentations to rural and remote EDs and the clinical skills required in these settings may be daunting. How do I prepare for such a career? Practising rural and remote emergency medicine requires specific training, much like any other form of emergency medicine. The new FACEM training programme from 2022 is more streamlined but requires closer planning for the trainee to consider when or how to fit rural placements, or a rural base, into their training. Let's consider the logistics of how a trainee can incorporate this in their training. |
