Abstract: | As stated in the 1958 Annual Report “The completion of the New Outpatients and Medical Services Unit is a milestone in the development of the Hospital and the competed unit is one of which we are justifiably proud. Such a modern building with up-to-date equipment will prove a boon to both patients and staff and the specialist departments housed in the Building can expand services to serve, to a fuller extent, all in the Corangamite Region needing such benefits. The Departments comprise Outpatients, X-Ray, Pathology, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Blood Bank, and space for special visits for spastic, polio, and cancer sufferers. All Departments are adequately staffed, except Pathology and the Board is negotiating for the appointment of a Medical Pathologist. Opening date is July 15th, and the ceremony is to be performed by Lieut-General Sir Edmund Herring, Lieut. Governor of Victoria. Dr. J. H. Lindell, Chairman of the Hospitals Commission, will also present.” |
